ARLINGTON, Va. - A retirement ceremony, honoring Air Force Maj. Gen. Jonathan T. Treacy, was held at Arlington Hall here June 6, celebrating his more than 30 years of military service.
Treacy, the outgoing special assistant to the Chief, National Guard Bureau, was commissioned in 1980 as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps as an advanced jet flight instructor, according to his bio.
His bio also states that after gaining combat fighter pilot experience in the Marine Corps, he went on to join the Massachusetts Air National Guard in 1988, first as the commander of the 101st Fighter Squadron and then the 101st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron (composite).
During closing remarks at his ceremony, Treacy reflected heavily on the longevity of his career.
"It's been an absolute honor and privilege to serve our nation," Treacy said. "Most especially, it's been an honor to serve alongside such great Americans, and a very gratifying career for me."
