WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 2014 Air National Guard Outstanding Airmen of the Year have been selected, announced Lt. Gen. Stanley "Sid" E. Clarke, III, director of the Air National Guard.

These Airmen, Clarke noted, were selected based on superior leadership, job performance, community involvement and personal achievements.

"The task of selecting these Airmen from the outstanding individuals nominated this year was a difficult one," Clarke said. "All nominees should be extremely proud of their achievements, their exemplary representation of their states and territories, and their service to the Air National Guard and the communities in which they live. They are examples to all Guard Airmen."

The 2014 Air National Guard Outstanding Airmen of the Year are:

Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Christian Goldsmith, 150th Special Operations Wing, New Mexico Air National Guard

Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Technical Sergeant Doug Matthews, 125th Special Tactics Squadron, Oregon Air National Guard
