Colorado Guard’s 140th Wing Deploys to Pacific

By 140th Wing Public Affairs

BUCKLEY SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. – Nearly 300 Airmen from the Colorado National Guard’s 140th Wing departed for a roughly three-month deployment to a Pacific Air Forces location in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility Jan. 10.

The deployment is a key component of the wing's commitment to ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific. While deployed, the Airmen will participate in a large-scale combined exercise alongside the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and at least two other allied nations. This exercise is designed to enhance interoperability and sharpen combat readiness in a dynamic and challenging environment.

"The rigorous training and preparation our Airmen continually undergo ensures they are always ready to answer the nation's call, and this deployment is a direct testament to that readiness," said U.S. Air Force Col. Benjamin “Scrappy” Couchman, 140th Wing commander. "I am confident these brave men and women will represent our wing with honor and distinction as they serve overseas. We are incredibly proud of their commitment and service."

The Pacific theater presents unique challenges that demand a high level of preparedness. Continuous and rigorous training is essential for maintaining a decisive edge and ensuring seamless integration with joint and international partners.

This deployment and the associated exercise provide a critical opportunity for our Airmen to hone their skills in a forward-deployed setting, reinforcing their ability to project airpower at a moment's notice.

The commander also extended a message of gratitude to the families and community members supporting the deployed Airmen.

"We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the friends and families who support them while they are away. Your strength and encouragement are the foundation upon which their success is built, and we thank you for your immense sacrifice,” Couchman said.

This deployment underscores the 140th Wing's vital role in national defense and its dedication to maintaining stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
