What is "Vigilant Guard"?

Vigilant Guard Michiganis an exercise hosted by the state of Michigan with significant participation from Illinois and surrounding states to include:

• Illinois
• Indiana
• Missouri
• Ohio
• Wisconsin

The exercise will provide military / civilian partners with an opportunity to:

• Assess the readiness of their states’ emergency plans
• Affirm the readiness of National Guard units supporting a homeland security response
• Assess the efficiency of existing civilian / military relationships
• Highlight the challenges associated with a regional emergency response
• Conduct Full Scale Exercise coordination with civilian and military partners, testing emergency response to simulated CBRNE events
