Search and Rescue Operations
1st Combat Camera Squadron
Jan. 17, 2010 | 1:42
On Jan. 17, 2010, U.S Air Force Pararescue Jumpers from the Air Force Special Operations Command work with Virginia Task Force-One of the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue, to perform search and rescue operations within the Port-au-Prince area. Both teams depart to a collapsed school, in search of any survivors. Locals try to explain where they themselves have been searching. Fairfax County work dogs search through the rubble. The dogs are trained to find the scent of a live person. From the school, the teams travel to Hotel Montana, which was devastated by the earthquake. An International Search and Rescue team carries a body discovered in the collapsed structure. The Air Force Pararescue Jumpers and Fairfax County have performed search and rescue operations for over three days since arriving in Haiti. Produced by Staff Sgt. Burt Traynor.
