What is Go SLO?

Go SLO stands for Safes, Locks, or Outside the home.

  • Safes: Store firearms in a gun safe or locked cabinet.
  • Locks: Use trigger locks or cable locks.

Soldiers seek spots on Team USA in 10m Air Rifle event
U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Sarah Beard, a Danville, Indiana native, competes at the Air Rifle Olympic Trials - Part II February 8, 2020 at the Olympic Training Center at Colorado Springs, Colorado. Top competitors from across the United States compete side by side in the 10m air rifle discipline for a spot on Team USA in the 2020 Olympics. Scores from Part I (December 2019) will be added with scores from Part II.

Beard is the daughter of 1984 Olympian William Beard.

Half way through the b-roll package the competitor to the right of Beard is shown (white shooting suit that has blue shoulders). This competitor is U.S. Army Spc. Sagen Maddalena, a Woodland, California native, who is also competing for a spot on Team USA.

Both of these Soldiers train at Fort Benning.

Notes: 1st Lt. Sarah Beard is a U.S. Army Reserve Soldier who is assigned to the World Class Athlete Program and attached to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Her father also served on both active duty and in the Army Reserve for over 20 years and retired as a major. He trained with the USAMU at Fort Benning as well.

Before joining the U.S. Army, Spc. Sagen Maddalena had a distinguished shooting career. She was an eight time All American from 2014 to 2018 with the University of Alaska Rifle team, a World Champion team member in 2014 and 2018, a part of the President’s 100 in 2010 and a Distinguished Rifleman in 2011.
