New York Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Charles Gabriel ( on the ground) works with Sgt. Joseph Roth ( in the UH-60) to conduct a hoist rescue of evacuees in eastern North Carolina on Sept. 19, 2018. The New York National Guard deployed two UH-60s and 10 Soldiers from Company C, 1st Battalion 171 GSAB to support North Carolina's Hurricane Florence response. Chief Warrant Officer 3 Christian Stokes was was pilot in command of the mission while 1st Lt. Brandon Zarkis was the pilot. ( U.S. Army National Guard video by Company D 1-171 GSAB)
