The Pennsylvania National Guard joined with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation of Natural Resources' Point State Park and the Association of the United States Army to organize Steel City Salutes the Troops, Pittsburgh, November 8, 2014. The event is a celebration of the region’s military history, community impact and continued relevance. Steel City Salutes the Troops is an open-house for the military and veteran community in the western Pa. region. This event is an opportunity for the public to come out and see some of the personnel and equipment from the units in the area as well as historical equipment and reenactments. There will be representation from the Pa. National Guard, both Army and Air; the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps Reserve; and the U.S. Coast Guard. The event was intentionally set to be held on the same day as Pittsburgh’s Veterans Day Parade, as a way to continue the celebration of the region’s patriotism, military history and ongoing significance. Steel City Salutes the Troops stands to be one of the most inclusive and interactive military and veteran events for the Pittsburgh region. (U.S. Air National Guard Video by Master Sgt.
