Clover Island Project - Walla Walla District Corps of Engineers
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division
May 23, 2023 | 0:44
The Clover Island revitalization project successfully completed habitat restoration, economic and recreation developments on Clover Island in Kennewick, Washington. A half-mile of shoreline and nearly an acre of adjacent shallow water habitat were restored. These restorations benefit ESA-listed upper Columbia River spring Chinook salmon, upper and mid-Columbia River steelhead and bull trout, and provide benefits to other wildlife and aquatic species native to the area. In addition, the Clover Island Riverwalk was extended, scenic viewpoints, benches and educational panels were added, while four upland parcels readied for economic development.

This project was a collaboration of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, and its partners, the Port of Kennewick, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, City of Kennewick, Benton County, and Washington State Recreation & Conservation Office.
