U.S. Army Rangers from across the force participate in the 2026 David E. Grange Jr. Best Ranger Competition. The ceremony concludes the 42nd annual three-day competition, held April 10-12, which challenged 61 two-man teams with more than 60 miles of grueling tactical events, including marksmanship, land navigation, and mystery events. Sgt. Drew Schorsch and Spc. Caleb Godbold, representing the 75th Ranger Regiment, earned the title of Best Ranger, marking the first time a specialist and sergeant team has won since 1988. The competition, organized by the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade, validates the readiness, physical endurance, and mental acuity of the Army’s most elite Soldiers.
