Georgia Army National Guard topples Fort Benning structures

FORT BENNING, Ga. -- A Georgia Army National Guard Soldier with the 877th Engineer Company, 878th Engineer Battalion, operates an excavator to demolish a building Sept. 13. U.S. Army Garrison Fort Benning and the Georgia Army National Guard worked for two weeks to demolish dilapidated buildings and provide the National Guard Soldiers mission-essential training.

1st Lt. Vivian Roberts: Only Georgia National Guard WWI POW

Vivian Roberts, the only Georgia Guardsman POW during World War I, in his American Legion uniform. Roberts was shot in the leg and captured by German soldiers in France in 1918. After the war, he served as clerk of Bibb County Superior Court in Georgia.
