Colonel Kevin S. Burton
Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Burton began his military career as a Combat Medic in 1994. In 2000, he attended the Arkansas Military Academy, OCS Class #44, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, in the Infantry, in August 2001.
Since commissioning, LTC Burton’s operational assignments include Rifle Platoon Leader A/1-153rd IN, Executive Officer B/1-153rd IN deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II, Battalion S1, 1-153rd IN, Battalion S2, 1-153 IN, Rifle Company Commander, B/1-153 IN deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom VIII, HHC Commander, 1-153rd IN, Battalion S3, 1-153rd IN, Brigade S3, 39th IBCT, State Family Programs Director, Selective Service Branch Chief, JFHQ, and served as the Battalion Commander of 2-153rd Infantry Battalion deployed in support of Operation Spartan Shield (OSS). Upon returning from the OSS deployment, he was assigned to the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations as the Training Division Branch Chief.
LTC Burton entered the Federal Technician program in 2009. His full-time assignments include Supply Systems Analyst, United States Property and Fiscal Office, 1-153rd Infantry Training Officer, 39th IBCT Training Officer, Joint Services Support Director, and currently serves as the State Labor Relations Specialist for the Arkansas National Guard Human Resources Office.
LTC Burton has attended the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, The Command and General Staff College, The Battalion Commanders Tactical Development and Pre-Command Course, and holds an additional skill identifier as an instructor.
LTC Burton’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2), Meritorious Service Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Order of Saint Maurice, and various other Federal and State Awards.
LTC Burton and his wife of 23 years, Nancy, live in Bryant, AR, and have two children, Gavin, and Quincy.
