Colonel Kevin Cox

Colonel Kevin Cox began his military career as a Fire Direction Specialist in A BTRY, 2-142 FA (8-inch) in 1991.  He attended State OCS Class #37 at the Arkansas Military Academy and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, Field Artillery in 1994.

COL Cox completed his pre-command assignments in the 2-142 FA (8-inch & 155mm).  He assumed command of A BTRY, 1-142 FA (MLRS) in 2002 and deployed his battery to Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian.  Following redeployment, LTC Cox immediately deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 142d Fires Brigade Headquarters where he served as Assistant Fire Support Coordinator and Military Transition Team Advisor to the 4th Iraqi Army Division.  Afterward, COL Cox served as the BN S-3 in 1-142 FA (MLRS) prior to being selected for resident ILE at the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College.  Following graduation, COL Cox served as the S-3 of the 2-142 FA (Paladin), Chief of Operations at Fort Chaffee, Fire Support Coordinator of the 39th IBCT, the Professor of Military Science at the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith, and Commander of the 1-206 FA (105mm) before deploying as the Brigade Executive Officer for the 39th IBCT’s Kosovo deployment in support of Operation Joint Guardian in 2017.  Afterward, COL Cox served as the Arkansas National Guard’s J5 prior to his current assignment of G-3.

COL Cox is a 2018 U.S. Army War College graduate and a Level III Joint Qualified Officer.  He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Arkansas State University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.  He also earned three Masters Degrees consisting of a Masters of Military Arts & Science in Homeland Security from the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College, a Masters of Arts in Management & Leadership from Webster University, and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

COL Cox’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, the Order of Saint Barbara, and numerous other Federal and State awards. 

COL Cox currently resides in Little Rock with his wife Joey.  They have been married for 31 years, and have three children:  Brandy, Abby, and Brett.
