Multiple wings used Squadron Innovation Funds (SIF) to build out RFID asset tracking systems. ANG Innovation organized these wings into a working group and made a visit to DPAS program office with SAF/CIO. This led to the adoption of a pilot program by the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Logistics which should ultimately lead to the wide spread adoption of RFID technology across the DOD. This is now a high priority project to use 193 SOW as a test case to identify and break down barriers which will result updates to DOD and AF policy and an implementation guide for follow on units to use to procure RFID systems.
