SC Guard Rescues Nichols, SC Residents
South Carolina National Guard
Oct. 10, 2016 | 1:03
Members of South Carolina National Guard’s 1053rd Transportation Company drive LMTVs through deep water carrying dozens of evacuees from the flooded town of Nichols, S.C. on Oct. 10, 2016. The Guardsmen, including SCNG State Command Sergeant Major Russell A. Vickery, partnered with the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, the S.C. Highway Patrol and local fire and emergency agencies in a joint, domestic operation that mitigated the immediate threat posed by Hurricane Matthew’s wind and rain.
