National Guard Members Continue LA Wildfire Response

Bryce Carter, an infantryman with C Company, 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment, California Army National Guard, sharpens the blade of a hoe to clear brush and other debris as part of remediation efforts along the Mulholland Trail near Tarzana, California, in the aftermath of the Palisades Fire, Jan. 18, 2025. Carter and other members of his unit were assisting CALFIRE in mop-up efforts, which included clearing brush and backfilling firebreaks and other areas to prevent mudslides and reduce the impact of firefighting efforts.

Petty Officer Second Class Xavier Dedeckere, 36, from Antwerp, Belgium, on board the BNS Bellis, a minehunter from the Belgium Naval Component. PO Dedeckere, who began his naval career in 1999, is one of four Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) divers aboard the BNS Bellis. The BNS Bellis is taking part in Exercise DANEX-NOCO 2012 as part of it’s training prior to joining the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG1) in 2013, one of NATO`s two specialist Mine Countermeasures (MCM) Groups. Exercise DANEX-NOCO 2012 is a combined Danish-German naval exercise with 15 participating nations and nearly 50 ships operating off the Danish coast from 3 to 12 September. The aim of the exercise is to allow the units to experience and train within a multinational naval force. In addition to the ships there are helicopters and aircraft from Denmark, Germany, USA, France and Sweden, as well as a large number of other Navy units. Also available in high definition.
