Disaster survivors Garry and Donna Shinn tell the story of their response to Hurricane Sandy, which devastated a portion of their home in Oceanside, New York on October 29, 2012, when the storm surge from Hurricane Sandy submerged their car and devastated the first floor of their home. Their dog Franny was also a Hurricane Sandy disaster survivor. Donna Shinn concludes the interview by stating that dogs are "family." Visit www.ready.gov/animals for more information.
