Former Capt. Jenean Hampton, commissioned in the Air Force in 1985, serving as a computer systems officer. During her seven years of service, Hampton was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and Altus AFB, Okla. Hampton deployed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Storm where she was responsible for critical radar software used for search and rescue missions and tracking enemy aircraft. After her military service, Hampton began a 19-year career in the corrugated packaging industry, while working full time, Hampton earned an MBA from the University of Rochester. On Nov3, 2015, Hampton was elected Lt. Governor of Kentucky and became the first African-American to hold statewide office. Additionally in 2015 Hampton was inducted into the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame in recognition of both her military service to the nation and general community service during her post-military career.
