230th Coast Guard Birthday Greeting Training Center Cape May
U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May
July 31, 2020 | 1:45
CAPE MAY, N.J. - Capt. Kathy Felger, the commanding officer of Training Center Cape May, and Master Chief Petty Officer Kody Fraughton, the command master chief of the base, recognize the 230th birthday of the Coast Guard.
U.S. Coast Guard video by TRACEN Cape May Public Affairs
CAPTION: Greetings from Training Center Cape May – the birthplace of our Coast Guard Enlisted workforce!
Today marks the Coast Guard’s 230th birthday. We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the long and storied history of our service as well as recognize the important work our people are doing here today.
One only needs to look around our Training Center to see the reminders of the legacy and traditions of our service.
At the waterfront, Cutter ANGELA McSHAN stands ready to answer the call to service much like Master Chief McShan did when she became the school chief for the Chief Petty Officer Academy, as the first African American to hold the position.
Station Cape May and ANT Cape May are carrying out the legacy of the Life Saving Service and the Bureau of Navigation every day - ensuring safety on the water for commerce and our community.
Throughout the Training Center, we have reminders of heroics including names such as Munro, Healy, James, Brukenthal and Flores who accomplished spectacular feats and gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Coast Guard. We remember all 1,500 who lost their lives in service to the country whose names are etched on our Coast Guard Enlisted Memorial.
In the current challenging times, for our Service and our Country, we have a dedicated team here in Cape May who exemplify our Core Values and inspire the next generation of Coast Guard men and women every day.
We continue to stand watch and go about the business of the service keeping with the highest traditions of the Coast Guard. To all the staff and families of Training Center Cape May – Thank you for your commitment to serve!
So, from the birthplace of our Enlisted Corps, we say Happy Birthday to the United States Coast Guard and to the Coast Guard women and men, past, present and future, devoted to the service of our Nation!
Happy Birthday Coast Guard!
