M4 Night Weapons Fire
U.S. Army Reserve Command
June 27, 2013 | 5:58
Army Reserve Best Warriors are finishing up their third day of competition, with a live fire night course. The competitors are given tracer rounds that are used to help guide the soldiers aiming point at night. Tracer rounds use a phosphoric or magnesium chemical, which burns white hot making the round visible to the eye. The range is laid out to give a soldier a real life feeling of the battlefield at night. Sounds of the battlefield are played over a loud speaker, coupled with explosion simulators, to give a more realistic feel of combat at night. Soundbite includes Command Sgt. Maj. Luther Thomas Jr. - Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army Reserve. The USARC CSM talks about the Best Warrior Competition as he observes the competitors going through their warrior tasks. Produced by Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Symonds.
