In close coordination with representatives from the US Air Force, the Joint Science and Technology Office (JSTO) executed an Advanced Technology Demonstration (ATD) consisting of a small team of Air Force Emergency Managers equipped with a new S&T Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Reconnaissance and Surveillance (R&S) system called the Austere Environment Reconnaissance and Surveillance (AERS) platform. This state-of-the art platform employs advanced CBRN sensors and integrated communications, with which they executed integrated CBRN early warning, reconnaissance and surveillance missions in support of the USAF Agile Combat Employment (ACE) concepts.
