U.S. Marines with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division, and U.S. Navy Sailors with Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD-2), provide ship security during exercise Steel Knight/Dawn Blitz (SK/DB) 21 off the coast of Southern California, Dec. 4, 2020. Exercise SK/DB 21 will test the 1st Marine Division's ability to facilitate Marine Air-Ground Task Force operations afloat and ashore to sustain its capabilities as a full-spectrum force in readiness against a capable peer or near-peer adversary.
