Washington, D.C. - National Guard Soldiers provide security at a checkpoint as part of the 59th Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 20. This effort was in support of the National Guard’s Capitol Response mission that brought more than 26,000 National Guard members from all 54 states and territories to the District of Columbia. About 2,200 Soldiers and Airmen remained on mission in support of the U.S. Capitol Police until the mission's conclusion on May 23.
