As the year would prove to be a record-breaking one for massive wildfires raging throughout the West, National Guard members were activated to help augment firefighters. Here, Chief Master Sgt. Daniel Garvida, an engineer superintendent with the Washington Air National Guard’s 194th Wing, sizes up the next challenge of a wildfire fight near Inchelium, Washington, Sept 16. Garvida as well as 14 other Air National Guard members from the 194th Wing and 225th Air Defense Group spent 10 days fighting fires in Eastern Washington.
