Kansas Army and Air National Guard students practice line-digging techniques during the field training day portion of the Wildland Firefighting Red Card Certification Course  at the Great Plains Regional Training Center in Salina Sept. 17, 2020. The objective of the course, which was made possible through a partnership between the Kansas National Guard and the Kansas Forest Service, was to increase statewide wildland firefighting capabilities by certifying Guard members across the state to respond to wildfires.
