CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Tyler Phillips stands with his family after taking the oath of enlistment from his grandfather Daniel Phillips, a former Troop Commander in the 1-150th Cavalry Regiment, West Virginia Army National Guard. Tyler enlisted as a 19D cavalry scout in the West Virginia Army National Guard's 1st Squadron, 150th Cavalry Regiment, 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team, in Charleston, West Virginia, Nov. 23, 2019. Tyler's father is Command Sgt. Maj. James Phillips, command sergeant major of the 1-150th Cavalry Regiment, 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team and is deployed to the Middle East. He watched the ceremony over a video chat app on his cell phone.
