Soldier combines love of history with service

Iraq, Iraq - Army Capt. Miranda Summers Lowe, the intelligence officer with the District of Columbia Army National Guard’s 74th Troop Command, stands next to a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter while deployed to Iraq in 2005. Summers Lowe has combined her background in history with her military experience and has worked on compiling the history of operations in Afghanistan for the U.S. Army Center of Military History and currently works on the civilian side as the curator for modern military history at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History.
