Schenectady, NY - The threat of ice jams like this one on the Mohawk River near Schenectady, N.Y. on Jan. 21, 2018, causing flooding as temperatures rise this week, prompted the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services to ask the New York National Guard to put Soldiers and Airmen on state active duty to assist local governments if required. On Jan. 22, 129 Army and Air National Guard members were on state active duty.
