Texas A&M Engineering Extension Services’ Disaster City, a realistic training and test facility for first responders located in College Station, Texas, provides hands-on training to hone the skills and techniques needed by today's response professionals. During the Winter Institute Intergovernmental Interoperability Excursion (WII2E), which replicated a mock category 2 hurricane direct hit at the facility, the Army demonstrated the deployable Disaster Incident Response Emergency Communications Terminal (DIRECT) equipment package being fielded to the Army National Guard.
