Brigadier General James K. Vogel

 

Brigadier General James K. Vogel was the Assistant Adjutant General – Air and Commander of the Arkansas Air National Guard.  He was the principal advisor to The Adjutant General of all Arkansas Air National Guard matters. General Vogel additionally was responsible for the combat readiness and operational effectiveness of all Arkansas Air National Guard units.

 
Brigadier General Vogel was commissioned in 1985 after graduating from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.  After completion of pilot training, General Vogel flew KC-135s at Altus AFB, OK.  After departing the active service in 1991, he joined the Illinois Air National Guard where he maintained qualification in the KC-135E. From there he joined the Ohio Air National Guard and maintained qualifications in the KC-135R.  He then maintained qualification in the C-40C as an Evaluator Pilot detailed to the DC Air National Guard.
 
General Vogel has significant experience in support of operations throughout the world and has flown in Operations Just Cause, Desert Shield and Deny flights.  He is a Command Pilot with over 2700 hours of total flying time.  General Vogel has served in a variety of operational, Headquarters Air Staff and joint assignments including serving as the Director, House Affairs, Office of Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia where he provided politico-military advice to the Office of the Secretary of Defense on all matters regarding the US House of Representatives.
