MAJOR GENERAL BRETT A. WYRICK

 

Maj. Gen. Brett A. Wyrick is the Air National Guard Assistant to the Surgeon General, United States Air Force, Pentagon, D.C. General Wyrick is dual Board Certified in General Surgery and Aerospace Medicine. He has combat experience as a trauma surgeon at Balad Air Base, Iraq. He also served as the Chief of Aerospace Medicine for the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram AB, Afghanistan during his most recent combat deployment in 2016. He is a member of the Hawaii Air National Guard and was first commissioned in the Oklahoma Air National Guard in 1990.  He received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri and completed his surgical training at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

His previous assignments include the Director of the Air National Guard Medical Service, Joint Surgeon of the Texas National Guard, and Hawaii State Air Surgeon.  He also served as the Commander of the 154th Medical Group HI ANG. A Traditional Guardsman, Dr. Wyrick currently serves full-time as the Federal Aviation Administration's Regional Flight Surgeon for the Northwest Mountain Region. He provides medical supervision to approximately 300 Aviation Medical examiners in the region: Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. He serves as the Federal Air Surgeon's delegated waiver authority on all classes of aviation medical certificates and air traffic controller fitness for duty determinations in the United States of America.
