Director, NGB-J3/Domestic Operations

Major General Timothy J. “TJ” Wright is currently serving as the Director, NGB-J3/Domestic Operations.

General Wright began his career as an enlisted soldier in 1966. After reenlisting MG Wright completed flight school and was appointed as a Warrant Officer in 1967. As part of A Troop 3/17 Cavalry, (Vietnam), MG Wright served as both an AH-1G aircraft commander and fire team leader with A Troop 3/17 Cavalry during his deployment to Vietnam. While assigned to the Indiana Army National Guard he served in both infantry and aviation duty positions followed by other notable positions within the 38th Infantry Division. He was appointed a 2nd Lt in 1974. His initial assignment was as the Aviation Section Commander for the 2nd Brigade, 38th Infantry Division. Then he served as Headquarters Company Executive Officer, Asst S-3 (Air) 38th Combat Aviation Battalion, Aviation Unit Maintenance (AVUM) Platoon Leader, and Logistics Officer S-4. During Operation Desert Storm he deployed to Saudi Arabia where he served with the 22nd Theater Support Command (United States Army Reserve) as a theater-level Aircraft Supply Officer. In that role, he supported both the 7th and 18th Corps Army Aviation units in all areas of logistics. Subsequent assignments as a member of the 38th Infantry Division (Mechanized), including Aviation Brigade S-3, Division G-3 (Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations), Commander 2nd Battalion 293rd Infantry, and Commander of the 38th Aviation Brigade. Prior to his appointment as Assistant Division Commander, MG Wright served as the Deputy State Area Command (STARC) Commander for the Indiana Army National Guard. MG Wright deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina as the commander of Stabilization Force 15 (SFOR 15) in Operation Joint Forge. There he commanded Multi-national Task Force (North) from April 2004 until mission completion in December 2004.
