Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Wyoming National Guard
Brigadier General Kathy J. Wright was the Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Wyoming National Guard Headquartered in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She also served as Commander, Wyoming National Guard. General Wright was responsible for unit readiness, leadership and strategic planning to support all State and Federal mission requirements assigned to the Army Guard, which included units located throughout Wyoming with more than 1,700 Soldiers. Units of the Wyoming Army National Guard included field artillery, engineering, maintenance, aviation, command and control, signal, medical, logistics, a training school and an Army band. Major commands included the 115th Fires Brigade, 94th Troop Command, Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center, 213th Regiment-Regional Training Institute and the Wyoming Joint Force Headquarters. General Wright served as a member of the Joint Diversity Executive Council.
General Wright began her military career with the Army National Guard in 1973. She received her commission from the Wyoming Officer Candidate Program on April 21, 1978, where she was awarded the Junior Candidate Leadership Award. Prior to receiving her commission, she served as an enlisted member in the 67th Army Band. She served on a number of national level advisory council positions including Chair of the Joint Personnel, Manpower and Personnel Functional Advisory Council and a member of the National Guard Bureau Joint Advisory Council.
