MAJOR GENERAL JOHN M. WHITE
Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, Air Combat Command
Major General John M. White is the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander of Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. As the Assistant to the Commander, he is responsible for advising the Commander and his staff on all issues impacting the Air National Guard and provides administrative oversight of assigned Air National Guard personnel. He ensures requirements and coordination for Air Combat Command gained Air National Guard units are included in the planning, programming, and execution phases of the Air Combat Command mission elements.
General White received his commission through Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps as a distinguished graduate. Upon completion of undergraduate pilot training at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona in April 1978, he received his pilot wings and was assigned there as a T-38 instructor pilot. His experiences have encompassed a myriad of assignments within both active and reserve components, serving as an F-16 Instructor Pilot, F-16 Demonstration Pilot, Squadron Commander, Group Commander, Wing Commander, and Assistant Adjutant General for Air, Acting Adjutant General, and Chief of Staff, Alabama Air National Guard prior to assuming his current position in June 2008.
