General Watson assumed duties as Assistant Adjutant General for Army, Florida Army National Guard, St. Augustine, FL., on 1 August 1997. As the Assistant Adjutant General he supervises the operations, training and readiness, and resource allocation of the Florida Army National Guard, which is authorized more than 10,700 Army and 1,700 Air National Guard personnel with full-time support workforce of over 1,300 personnel. Serves as resident/chairman of various boards/committees. He provides TAG with confidential recommendations on personnel, operations, and policy for the Florida Army National Guard.

General Watson was commissioned in 1969 after graduation from the Florida National Guard Officer Candidate School at Camp Blanding, Florida. During his career, General Watson has served as an Infantry platoon leader, company executive officer, company commander, chief tactical officer at the Florida National Guard Officer Candidate School, S2, S3 and executive officer of the 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry and Assistant S3 and S3 for the 53rd Infantry Brigade, Commander of the 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry and Executive Officer of the 53rd Infantry Brigade and Commander of the Florida Regional Training Institute at Camp Blanding, Florida. He became the Assistant Adjutant General (Army) of the Florida National Guard on 1 August 1997.
