The Assistant Adjutant General-Army, Connecticut National Guard

Brigadier General Ireneusz J. Zembrzuski assumed duties as the Assistant Adjutant General for the Army National Guard, State of Connecticut, Hartford CT, on November 1, 2000. As the Assistant Adjutant General, he is responsible to the Adjutant General for administration, training, and operations of the State's 4,000 Army Guard members to support both the U.S. mobilization requirements and state emergency operations. 

The General's active military career began in 1967. He was commissioned as an infantry officer following Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning GA, and was subsequently assigned as Operational A-Detachment Commander and later as the Group Training Officer, 8th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces. Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Zembrzuski served as the United States Property and Fiscal Officer for the CT National Guard. Additionally, his service in the CT Army National Guard included assignments as Chief of Staff, CT Army National Guard; Director of Plans, Operations, Training and Military Support; Commander, 43rd Infantry Brigade; Commander, 242d Engineer Battalion; and Deputy Commandant, CT Military Academy.
