Army Soldiers Execute a Simulated Patriot Missile Engagement during RIMPAC 2018
Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet
July 27, 2018 | 2:11
180727-N-DM338-0005 JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (July 27, 2018) Soldiers from 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Dismounted Patriot Information Coordination Central (D-PICC), 6th Battalion, and 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment execute a simulated Patriot missile engagement in support of U.S. Army Pacific's Multi-Domain Task Force Program, to demonstrate the ability to detect and defend air and ballistic missile threats on Ford Island, Hawaii, as a part of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, July 24. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world’s oceans. RIMPAC 2018 is the 26th exercise in the series that began in 1971. (U.S. Navy Combat Camera video by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Nicholas A. Groesch/Released)
