U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Robert Hook, senior enlisted leader of the 113th Maintenance Group, 113th Fighter Wing, District of Columbia Air National Guard, recounts his and his unit's reaction to the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. As a young Airman assigned to the 113th, Hook and his unit sprang into action, loading munitions onto F-16 fighter jets and preparing to protect the skies above the national capital region.
