BRIGADIER GENERAL WILLIAM J. SHONDEL

Brigadier General William J. Shondel is the Chief of Staff for the West Virginia Air National Guard. The West Virginia Air National Guard has over 2,000 members, and consists of two C-130 flying units, the 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston, WV and the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, WV. As Chief of Staff, he is the Deputy Commander of the West Virginia Air National Guard, and provides command and control over the Headquarters staff.

Brigadier General Shondel was commissioned as a second lieutenant upon graduation from Ohio State University where he was a distinguished Air Force ROTC graduate and commander of the cadet wing of 2,000. Prior to his assignment as the Chief of Staff, he served as a supply officer, commander of the Wing Mobility Flight, Aerial Port Squadron and Resource Management Squadron; State Director of Logistics and the Assistant Adjutant General for Air.
