Brigadier General Charles E. Savage is the vice director for requirements and integration, J8, United States Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. He is responsible for assisting the director in the areas of planning, programming and budgeting, joint requirements, joint interoperability and integration, oversight of the advanced concept technology demonstration program, and joint theater airborne missile defense. He is an integral leader in executing Joint Forces Command's mission of joint force provider, trainer, integrator, experimentation and transformation.
He attended basic military training in 1962. He was an aircraft instrument technician assigned to Charleston AFB, S.C. and Kadena Air Base, Okinawa until his separation from active duty in 1966. He joined the South Carolina Air National Guard in 1967 as an aircraft instrument shop supervisor. In 1981, he received his commission and served in various maintenance officer positions to include director of logistics until 1997. He then moved to headquarters as the logistics officer until being assigned in 2000 to an Air National Guard assistant position.
