BRIGADIER GENERAL CARL A. LORENZEN

cal.jpg (39038 bytes)Brigadier General Carl A. Lorenzen is the Assistant Adjutant General (Air), Headquarters, Nebraska Air National Guard in Lincoln. He is responsible for assisting the adjutant general in commanding and directing the 950 members of the Nebraska Air National Guard.

The general began his military career in April 1967 when he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He completed undergraduate pilot training in June 1968 and went on to serve as an RF-84F and RF-4C pilot with the 173rd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Nebraska Air National Guard. He later served as flight commander and operations officer with the Lincoln-based unit before becoming the deputy commander-operations and principal deputy. In 1992, he took a two-year leave of absence from his civilian job with Northwest Airlines to assume full-time command of the 155th Tactical Reconnaissance Group and helped oversee the unit's transition from the RF-4C reconnaissance mission to the KC- 135R air refueling mission. He assumed his current position in August 1996 after being named to it by Maj. Gen. Stanley M. Heng, Adjutant General for Nebraska. He is a command pilot with more than 3,500 flying hours in the PF-84F, RF-4C, C-12J and KC- 135R aircraft.
