Special Assistant to the Director, Air National Guard
Major General F. Dexter Tutor is Special Assistant to the Director, Air National Guard, Arlington, Virginia. In this position, he is responsible for advising and assisting the director and the staff in formulating, developing, and coordinating all policies, plans and programs affecting more than 106,800 Guard members in more than 88 flying units and 200 geographically separated units throughout the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
General Tutor received his commission in 1971 as a distinguished graduate from the Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tennessee. General Tutor graduated from Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1973, receiving his wings at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. He has commanded an airlift squadron and an airlift wing and later served as Tennessee Air National Guard Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of Tennessee Joint Forces Headquarters. In addition, General Tutor has served as Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander for the 618th Tanker Airlift Control Center, 18th Air Force, and Air Education and Training Command. General Tutor is the Chairman, Air Reserve Forces Policy Committee, and the Air National Guard Liaison, Board of Directors, Airlift/Tanker Association. Prior to assuming his current assignment, General Tutor served as Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
