BRIGADIER GENERAL V. WAYNE LLOYD

Brigadier General V. Wayne Lloyd was the Commander and Chief of Staff, West Virginia Air National Guard. The West Virginia Air National Guard has over 2,000 members and consists of two C-130 flying units, the 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston, WV, and the 167th Airlift Wing in Martinsburg, WV. As Commander and Chief of Staff , he was the principal advisor to the Adjutant General and provides command and control over all Air National Guard forces assigned to the State.

Brigadier General Lloyd was commissioned in the West Virginia Air National Guard in 1968 and received his pilot wings in 1969. Distinguished service with the 167th Airlift Wing resulted in his selection as Wing Commander in 1989. During his tenure as Commander, he ensured the combat readiness of unit personnel exceeded standards established by the United States Air Force. This was evident in 1998 when the wing received an 'Outstanding' rating on their Operational Readiness Inspection. His career at the 167th Airlift Wing culminated in 1999 with retirement as Wing/Air Commander and subsequent assignment to State Headquarters. During the period March ' July 2002, Brigadier General Lloyd commanded the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing, Kyrgyz Republic, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

He is a past Chairman of the NGAUS Airlift Tanker Task Force. He previously served as Co-chairman of the Air National Guard C-130 Weapons Systems Council, and was a member of the Air Directorate Field Advisory Council (ADFAC) to the Director, Air National Guard.
His civic affiliations include membership in the Martinsburg Rotary Club, Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce, and the Eastern Panhandle Federal Executives Association.
