Major General Bruce W. MacLane is currently the Air National Guard Assistant to the commander of Pacific Air Forces (PACAF). As the assistant, he serves as the
principal advisor on Air National Guard forces trained to support PACAF after mobilization. He assists the PACAF commander in development of plans for peacetime training missions to enhance Air National Guard capability for wartime employment.
The general began his military career after graduating from the Citadel in 1965 and receiving his commission through the Air Force ROTC program. He received his pilot wings in December 1966 at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., and attended F-4C crew training at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., and George Air Force Base, Calif., en route to Cam Ranh Bay Air Base, Republic of Vietnam. During his tenure as the wing commander, the 116th Fighter Wing converted from the F-15 Eagle to the B-1B Lancer, re-locating from Dobbins Air Reserve Base to Robins Air Force Base, Ga., being re-designated the 116th Bomb Wing.
