General Officer Biography

BRIGADIER GENERAL CHARLES M. CAMPBELL

 

Brigadier General Charles M. Campbell is the chief of staff, Florida Air National Guard also serving as the vice commander, First Air Force. He assists the commander of First Air Force in organizing, equipping and operating air defense forces for aerospace warning and control in support of the commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). These forces include the Continental NORAD Region Air Operations Center, three air defense sectors, 16 fighter alert sites and 10 Air National Guard (ANG) fighter wings.

General Campbell received his commission through the Air Force ROTC Training Corps program at the University of Central Florida in 1976. Prior to assuming his current position, Colonel Campbell was the Commander of the Southeast Air Defense Sector, Tyndall AFB, Fla. His past positions also included Operations Group Commander, 125th Fighter Wing, Florida Air National Guard; the Deputy Commander for Operations, Southeast Air Defense Sector, Tyndall AFB, Fla.; and the National Guard Associate F-15 Unit Commander, 325th Fighter Wing, Tyndall AFB, Fla., where he stood up the Air National Guard Associate Instructor Pilot Training Program.

General Campbell is a command pilot with more than 3,500 hours in the F-4, F-16, and F-15 aircraft.
