Brigadier General George B. Patrick III is the special assistant to the director, Air National Guard. Prior to his current assignment he served as special assistant to the chief, National Guard Bureau and the assistant adjutant general - air, South Carolina Air National Guard, McEntire Joint National Guard Base, Eastover, S.C.
The general began his military career when he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1973. He was selected as the National Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadet of the Year and received the Legion of Valor Award for Achievement his senior year.
General Patrick has served extensively at the National Guard Bureau level to include director, Desert Shield contingency support staff; special assistant to the director of operations; United States Air Forces Europe deployments branch; and advisor to the commander, 9th Air Force/ CENTAF. In addition, the general has served as a battle commander in support of Operation Noble Eagle, an Air Expeditionary Wing commander in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and as Central Command chief of staff in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a command pilot with more than 3,100 flying hours and is a decorated combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm.
