BRIGADIER GENERAL DANIEL R. SCACE

Brigadier General Daniel R. Scace is the deputy director, Joint Forces Headquarters, Connecticut. He is responsible to the director, Joint Forces Headquarters, Connecticut, assisting in the integration, direction, management and coordination of military operations involving Air and Army National Guard units, serving at over 30 military installations. On behalf of the director, he also oversees the development and validation of all state Military Department emergency response plans. The General also serves as a senior advisor to the adjutant general regarding the status of and resourcing for units tasked with federal or state military support to civil authority requirements.

General Scace began his career with the United States Air Force immediately following his graduation from the United States Air Force Academy in 1972. He graduated from Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1973, at Reese Air Force Base, Texas, earning the title of Distinguished Graduate. He then attended F-4 RTU at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, graduating in May 1974. From 1974 to 1977, he was assigned to RAF Lakenheath, U.K. as a squadron pilot. From 1977 to 1980, he was assigned as an F-4 Flight Instructor and Standardization and Evaluation Flight Evaluator at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. He left the active duty Air Force in 1980. As a civilian, he performed nuclear engineering and nuclear training work for both the Department of the Navy and the private sector. General Scace joined the Connecticut Air National Guard in 1982, and became qualified in the A-10 Thunderbolt II. During his Air Guard career, he has been assigned as the 118th Fighter Squadron Flying Safety Officer, 118th Fighter Squadron Flight Commander, 118th Fighter Squadron Operations Officer, the 103rd Operations Support Flight Commander, the 103rd Operations Group Commander, 103rd Fighter Wing Vice Commander and 103rd Fighter Wing Commander. He assumed his current position on 11 July 2004.
