BRIGADIER GENERAL JARED P. KENNISH

 

Brigadier General Jared P. Kennish is the assistant adjutant general for the Rhode Island Air National Guard. He serves as the chief advisor to the Adjutant General on all matters pertaining to Air National Guard programs, policies, command and control, operations and management of the Rhode Island Air National Guard and provides staff assistance guidance and direction concerning Air National Guard personnel, administration, training, recruiting, retention incentives and budgetary matters.

General Kennish began his military career by receiving his commission through Officer Training School in September 1967. After completing Undergraduate Pilot Training at Craig Air Force Base, Alabama he was assigned to the 345th Tactical Airlift Squadron, Ching Chuan Kang, Air Force Base, Taiwan. Following this South East Asia tour he returned to Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, as an Instructor Pilot. He separated from active duty in June 1973 and joined the Rhode Island Air National Guard in July 1975. Since joining the Rhode Island Air National Guard, General Kennish has served in a number of different capacities including Chief of Standardization/Evaluation, Training Officer, Operations Officer, Deputy Commander for Operations and Vice Commander. In February 1991 General Kennish was mobilized and later deployed to Europe and South West Asia in Support of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He was also the Mission Commander during the 143rd Airlift Group's Support of Operation Provide Comfort. In December 1992 Colonel Kennish performed a one-month tour in Mobassa, Kenya during Operation Provide Relief. He was the Deputy Director of Mobility Forces. In January 1995 General Kennish was appointed Commander of the 143rd Airlift Wing. He was appointed to the Chief of Staff of the Rhode Island Air National Guard position in April 2000. From October 2001 through March 2002 General Kennish preformed numerous tours of duty as the Director of the USAF's Crisis Action Team at the Pentagon. The General assumed his current position on 4 August 2002.
