BRIGADIER GENERAL ROBERT W. SULLIVAN

Brigadier General Robert W. Sullivan serves as director of operations, reserve assistant - SCJ3V, United States Southern Command, Miami, Fla. He is responsible for integrating Guard and Reserve units and personnel into operational missions of the Command. He assists the Directorates and the Commander on Guard and Reserve related issues and is a spokesman to 32 nations and 14 dependencies within the command on the concepts and integration of the Guard and Reserve in the United States military. He articulates for the Command the issues of the State Partnership program and the use of reserve personnel in all missions including terrorism and natural disaster response.

The general entered the Air Force in 1967 as a graduate of Colorado State University's Air Force ROTC program and was assigned to the 3500 Student Squadron, Communications Electronics Officer Technical School, Keesler Air Force Base, Ms. He has an extensive communications electronics/computer background with tours throughout the Air Force, active and guard. These tours include long range planning in the USAFE communications directorate, Detachment Commander in Spain, tactical and mobile deployments in support of JCS missions worldwide, Communications Squadron Commander in the Florida and Georgia Air Guard and senior leadership positions in the State Headquarters of the Florida National Guard. He also served a tour as the National Guard Advisor to United States Central Command. The general has extensive joint staff experience gained through many missions and directorate level positions in USSOUTHCOM, USCENTCOM, USAFE and the National Guard.
