The Adjutant General, Florida
Major General Emmett R. Titshaw, Jr, is The Adjutant General, Florida. As the Adjutant General, he is the Governor's senior military advisor and oversees both state and federal missions of the Florida National Guard. He supervises the administration, training, and operations of the Florida National Guard. General Titshaw previously served as Special Assistant to the Director, Air National Guard and also as the Acting Director, Air National Guard.
General Titshaw enlisted in the Florida Air National Guard in May 1970 and received a direct commission in November of that year. He served in a variety of command positions with the 125th Fighter Wing, including Flight Commander; Air Operations Officer; Fighter Squadron Commander; and Wing Commander.
General Titshaw has served in numerous assignments with Florida's State Headquarters, including Director of Operations, Chief of Staff-Air; Assistant Adjutant General-Air; Commander of the Florida Air National Guard; and Deputy Commander, Florida Joint Force Headquarters. He served as Battle Commander at the Combined Air Operations Center; Continental North American Aerospace Defense Region in 2004 and 2005; and commanded Joint Task Force Florida for Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma in 2005. In 2006, he was assigned as Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander Air Combat Command. Prior to becoming The Adjutant General, General Titshaw served as Assistant to the Chief of Staff, United States Air Force. While in that position, he served for three months as Acting Director, Air National Guard.
