Assistant Adjutant General
Maryland Army National Guard

Brigadier General Warner Sumpter assumed duties as Assistant Adjutant General and Commander of the Maryland Army National Guard on June 28, 2000. As Assistant Adjutant General and Commander he is responsible for the readiness and deployment of the 7,200 soldiers of the Maryland Army National Guard.

The General has held several command and staff assignments at company, battalion, brigade and state Headquarter levels, to include most recently serving as the Chief of Staff for the Maryland Army National Guard.
